This Foundation provided him with meaning and direction to his whole human existence.

Love for God and neighbour gave a sense of unity to his life.

Fr Godwin is a Jesuit priest who formed many CLC communities through long years at St Aloysius College. He has been giving the Spiritual Exercises in Malta and abroad to people of different ages for the last 40 years.

From the Prophet Hosea to Anthony de Mello’s Sadhana: A Journey into Silence and Renewed Love

This presentation traces the movement of divine love revealed in Hosea — a love that suffers betrayal yet never stops pursuing. In the desert of silence and loss, God awakens the heart to rediscover love.

Drawing on Anthony de Mello’s Sadhana, we will thus explore simple ways of dwelling in awareness — to quiet the mind, listen with the heart, and meet again the God who tenderly whispers: “You are mine. Come home.”

Alda is a podiatrist and registered homeopath with a diverse academic background spanning healthcare, theology, and literature. A Masters student at the Faculty of Theology, University of Malta, and formed in spiritual accompaniment with CIS, she offers Ignatian retreats and spiritual guidance. Her work weaves together healing, faith, and the arts in a contemplative search for the restoration of our humanity in Christ.

This immersive and prayerful workshop invites participants to reflect deeply on the mystery of God’s mercy in the face of human weakness. Rooted in the First Week of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, we explore

the reality of sin—not as condemnation, but as a sacred doorway to grace. Through creative prayer experiences, we are invited to reflect on our human frailty, awaken to our need for healing, and encounter the unwavering love of God who meets us even in our lowest places and gently calls us to rise.

Participants will journey through a series of interactive stations and meditative activities designed to foster self-awareness, spiritual honesty, and hope. Through creative reflection stations, guided journaling, and prayer, we journey from guilt to healing, rediscover that even in our brokenness, God’s love is unwavering, personal, and transformative. From reflection to gazing at the “Beloved of God,” each moment is crafted to help us move towards forgiveness and a gratitude for love that never fails.

Whether you come burdened, curious, or longing for renewal, this hour offers a sacred space to encounter the truth that even in our frailty, God whispers: ‘How could I not love you?’

Sarah is a mother and teacher by profession who has a love for nature and is passionate about crafting experiences that are creative and rooted in faith and hope. She has been part of the Christian Life Community for over 35 years, where she has found a spiritual home shaped by companionship, discernment, and shared mission. Throughout her journey, Sarah has served in various roles in CLC, beginning with the Secretariat and later twice forming part of the Leadership Community. During her first term, she launched the Children’s Formation Program, establishing the first-ever Children’s Seminar Team. In her second term, she revived the monthly Youth meetings, creating spaces for young people to grow in faith and community. After completing the Spiritual Exercises in daily life and earning a diploma in Spiritual Accompaniment through the Pastoral Formation Institute and the Centre of Ignatian Spirituality, Sarah felt called to walk alongside others in their spiritual journey. Her involvement with the Centre of Ignatian Spirituality has allowed her to blend her love for nature, creativity, and faith to design spaces of reflection for others. She has had the opportunity to work with others to prepare annual Countryside Retreats, Family Day Retreats, and monthly Reflective walks which offer participants a prayerful connection with God and creation. Sarah continues to be inspired by the grace that unfolds when people are invited into spaces of silence, beauty, and spiritual depth.

In the heart of every human being there is a constant struggle between two spirits: good and evil. As in the parable of the wheat and the weed, they are always mixed: both in our hearts and in this world, in every task and in every conscience. Through the meditation entitled “The Two Standards”, which one finds at the end of the second week of the Spiritual Exercises, Ignatius begins to give clues so that one can begin to recognize and choose between the spirits in spiritual discernment: the different tactics that these two leaders have, Christ and that of the Evil one. It is worth adding that Ignatius gave primary importance to this meditation.

Andrew is a family doctor and former teacher. Member of the Ignatian Spirituality Centre. He strongly believes in volunteerism, especially that which brings one in direct contact with the forgotten and marginalized on the fringes of society. He

was a member of the Third World Group. He spent some years on the Board of Directors of the Nazareth Foundation: which offers shelter in a family-friendly environment to people with special needs. He is also a broadcaster, regularly hosting Christian music and Reflection programmes on Radju Marija Malta.

Embracing Suffering in the Spiritual Journey (Weeks 3 & 4)
The Workshop invites participants to explore how pain, struggle, and sacrifice become paths to deeper union with God. Rooted in the Ignatian tradition, this workshop reflects on how suffering, when embraced with faith and love, becomes a transformative encounter with Christ’s redeeming love. Through prayer, reflection, and shared experience, participants will discover how God’s grace works through human weakness, leading to inner freedom, compassion, and renewed hope in the journey toward spiritual maturity.

Josephine is an educator with extensive experience in teaching, curriculum leadership, and international programmes focused on Global Citizenship and the Social Doctrine of the Church. Grounded in Ignatian spirituality, she accompanies individuals in their spiritual journeys and actively participates in the Christian Life Community (CLC).

We tend to speak about 'knowing God's will for me', and of 'God's plan', as though these were not unlike a corporate plan or the boss's plans for me. But perhaps it is more accurate to speak about God dreaming for and with me, and guiding me to make that dream come true, so that, in Jesus's words, each one of us 'may have life, and have it more abundantly' (Jn 10: 10).

This workshop introduces us to God dreaming for and with me, taking as its cue Luke's account of the conversation between Mary and the Angel Gabriel, which bore fruit in Mary's 'Yes' to God - the Incarnation. There, Gabriel, speaking for God, affirmed Mary's dream to become a mother as well as her dream for the salvation of Israel, and patiently accompanied her, answering questions and opening horizons, until Mary was able to say 'yes' in full freedom. This is a model of discernment. Mary's dreams were also God's dreams: her discernment bore fruit in a union of hearts - Mary's, God's and Joseph's - so that it became possible for the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity to take human form and bring the work of salvation to fulfilment.

Each one of us is invited into a similar union of hearts, so that we too may continue the ongoing work of salvation. By introducing the tools and practices of Ignatian discernment, this workshop will help us to understand what discernment is, how it works, and how it allows us to respond in full freedom to God, dreaming for us and with us.

Edward is a member of RODS, a community which was first formed in 1975! He is a retired academic, having a special interest in the politics of islands and very small states, as well as being an accredited spiritual director, a retreat guide and a member of the Centre for Ignatian Spirituality. He edited the English edition of Progressio Supplement No 76 - Synodality as a Way of Proceeding in the Church, which was published in May 2023.

How do I decide?

The First Degree of Humility

The first way is fundamental. You love Jesus Christ so much that nothing and no one on earth could persuade you to do what you know would cut you off from him

The Second Degree of Humility

Or you can be another kind of lover and live humbly in a second way. You love Jesus Christ so much that you want to remain loyal even to his great redemptive vision.

The third degree of humility

The third and most perfect degree involves an intentional choice to embrace hardship, poverty, and contempt for the sake of imitating Christ more fully.

Jenny is a member of Dawn/loyola and a Co guide in Nazareth. She has been a CLC member for over 20 years relishing an experience of knowing self, knowing others, and knowing God through the gift of faith and Ignatian formation. She is involved in migration issues.

The session will start off with an Imaginative Contemplation of a Gospel passage which will lead to the themes of  disordered attachments, what we truly seek, and the invitations of Christ.  Ultimately, we will look at the different responses possible – the three classes of people according to St Ignatius – and what really leads us to inner joy.

Ben has a background in youthwork and education and has now been a Lay Chaplain for over 20 years, in Malta and abroad. She has been in contact with Jesuits since her youth, and joined CLC 8 years ago, and finished the CIS course in Spiritual Accompaniment 3 years ago.
